The word translates to "imaginary' or "fantasy." Navigating the Stacks - Information Literacy Part 3

1: Website & Map -- 2: Dewey Decimal System -- 3: Video "The Lure of the Library" and Scavenger Hunt -- 4: Catalog Demonstration and Scavenger Hunt -- 5: Quiz Show What You Know Part 1 of 2 and Scavenger Hunt -- 6. Quiz Show What You Know Part 2 of 2 and Scavenger Hunt.
Students will earn the privilege of using the library computers by part 4 of the 6-part practicum designed to allow them to demonstrate their awareness of library procedures and their ability to execute simple catalog searches.

Shapes, by Miriam Schlein
Lots of things are round, and lots more are square, but people and animals are never exactly round or square. Published in 1952. Add to the creepiness by reading with ambient music:  "The Invaders," by Jerry Goldsmith from "The Twilight Zone."

A mother must save her children from a witch who has changed them into food items that she is about to gobble up.

Dolls, Dolls, Dolls, by Shirley Glubok
Published in 1975, this book unwittingly presents the stuff of nightmares by tracing the history of dolls from ancient Egyptian paddle dolls to stylish fashion dolls and mechanical dolls, each era featuring dolls creepier than the last. Add to the creepiness by reading with ambient music:  "The Invaders," by Jerry Goldsmith from "The Twilight Zone."

    Our students enjoy weekly visits for presentations crafted to instill a love of reading, to enhance classroom lessons, and to inspire life-long learning. Visits include checking out materials, practicing information literacy, and exercising digital citizenship.
