September 2024 Many thanks to GV PTA for replacing the two library circulation desk computers. The old machines could no longer receive system updates due to their age. The new machines feature a wider screen which is much easier to read, and they have a tidy physical profile with fewer wires for a clean, modern look. Much appreciated!

The Manhattan Beach Education Foundation welcomes renowned children's author, Susan Verde, for a special presentation GROWING UP WITH SUSAN VERDE on February 28 5:30-7:00 p.m. in the Mira Costa High School Auditorium. The event is free and open to all families. Click here to RSVP All ages will benefit from Susan's focus on cultivating empathy and compassion in ourselves and others. Susan recently released Who I Am, an uplifting picture book full of positive affirmations that encourage kids to practice self-love every day. The book is part of the New York Times bestselling I Am series written by Susan and illustrated by Peter H. Reynolds. Elementary students in grades TK-2 will participate in a visit from Susan to their school site on either February 28 or 29 thanks to an MBEF Educator Grant. The school libraries are stocked with many of Susan's books for students to read. Pages: a Bookstore will be present with copies of Susan's books available for purchase.
DID YOU KNOW? Many school districts in California do not have a dedicated library on campus, let alone an expert in the field to guide students. Parent donations to MBEF's annual appeal ensure that such programs as library, PE, makerspace, music, and science are available in our elementary schools.
