HELPFUL HINTS
- Start reading! All titles are available at the Grand View library. Picture books and nonfiction titles stay in the library to be read there. Novels will be circulated in a timely manner so everyone gets a chance to read them.
- You may check out books from the public library; or consider purchasing them to keep.
- Take notes. Dedicate a notebook for all your SLQB books. It will be really helpful for review prior to the competition. Notes, however, will not be allowed during the competition.
- Keep track of straightforward information such as the name of the author or illustrator. List character names for each book. Jot down sequence and timeline of events. These are the kinds of details that will help you during the game.
- Read everything in the book. This means the supplementary pages, such as the forward and the afterword, that are often included in nonfiction books. The "extra stuff" makes for great SLQB questions!
- Have fun!
