Discussion Questions Tell about a time you were nervous. What rules are most important in school? What could Penelope have done to make friends right away? Would you rather meet Penelope or Walter--why? How did Penelope show empathy? What would be a good choice for a classroom pet--why? Continue the story--what do you think happens after the end?
Crafty Connection Paper plate fishbowl with handprint fish. Trace hand on construction paper; cut out and tape onto plate. Embellish with lips and eye. Color in water with felf pen; use dot markers to make multi-colored pebbles.

Optional Reading Challenge Students in fourth and fifth grade are invited to participate in an optional novel reading challenge. students qualify to participate by completing this questionnaire and returning it to Mrs. Snively by Friday, March 24. Voting day is Wednesday, March 29 during lunch. Participants will eat their lunch in the library, vote, and receive prizes and giveaways. This challenge is not part of the CYRM program.
