Balderdash! John Newbery and the Boisterous Birth of Children's Books, by Michelle Markel
Before his name graced golden seals on the covers of books for children, John Newbery was a humble printer with big dreams. He loved reading as a child, went on to work as a printer, and then made a groundbreaking decision to write and market entertaining, silly stories for children.

Beatrix Potter (1866-1943)
New Beginnings Spark your joy in 2021 and beyond. You never know, someone may be aided, helped, or saved by your passion.
Dr. Anthony Fauci is an immunologist and has served as the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984, where he oversees research to diagnose, prevent, and treat infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis. In an interview, he talked about serving the health community for more than half a century, saying, "it's electrifying, when you look at all the good that you can do."

Beatrix Potter, Scientist, by Lindsay H. Metcalf
Although best known today for her illustrated stories about cuddly animals, Beatrix Potter's first love was science, a passion she pursued by observing, questioning, collecting, and recording. She collected animals, sketched them in life, and, after death, examined their bones. Because Beatrix lived at a time when women were not encouraged to follow a passion for science, she turned to storytelling.
